My neighbor is a sex offender! I know this, because he came over, introduced himself, and informed us. I also know, because several websites have posted his address and a few organizations have come by and given me his information. He is married, with two young boys. He is registered as a tier 2 sex offender. Here is a link to the tier explanations, and limits. 

The harassment level was becoming an issue for me. I hate people! I especially hate people that come to my door and want to preach at me, especially on my weekends. I especially hate people who will not take no as an answer, and I have to use my hose. I walked over to my next door neighbor and we talked about it. He was charged with statutory rape. He was 17 and she was 15, when they started dating. On his 18th birthday, they had sex for the first time for both of them. Eventually, her parents caught them, and he was charged, arrested and convicted. They got married 3 days after she turned 18, and have been together since. Yes, he is a registered sex offender for his wife of 12 years, and mother to his 2 sons.

My questions for you : Should this man still be constantly harassed for this offence, that occurred as a teenager? Based upon the rules, he must remain on the registry for 25 years, do you think that is way to long, or not long enough? Do you think that these community defenders are going to far, for a statutory rapist? Should they not be dedicating their time to real hardcore offenders? How do you feel about them harassing the neighbors of sex offenders?
