This weekend, I took a mixed group of women to the shooting range, for an introduction to shooting class. Most of these ladies are my wife's work friends and friends of friends. They know we are big gun nutz, and they were curious. So we made a day of it, with shooting in the afternoon, and wine and cheese afterwards, at one of the ladies home. This was a full racial mix of women, white, black, Asian, and an assortment of cultures, ranging from born and raised Americans, to Filipino and Indian immigrants. It was a pretty good day, for all.
Over drinks, and some truly funky cheeses, the conversation moved away from guns and gun safety, and toward popular news events, which seems to be all about racism, sexism, racism and sexism in politics, equal pay, and , of course, Hilary Clinton. The arguments began. I say argument, not because it was violent or aggressive, but because it was not a debate or discussion. These women, were all highly educated scientist, professors, and administrators, who all hold the same general consensus:
" All of the racism and sexism business in America seems to all be coming from MEN!"
To them, it did not seem to matter what race your were, or what political affiliation you may have, but the fact that all of the hate filled commentary, reporting, arguments and general ( I am quoting here) " Bullshit" all seems to be coming from the mouths of men.
So, I bring the question to you, The Vine. Is all of this racism, sexism, hate speech, and anger just a male dominated subject matter? Are men perpetuating the hate, and the country's apparent divide? If women were in control, would things be different?
